What is it about?

The purpose of the M&L WW3 PG2 PBEM Club is to simulate a world war.

Players will be divided into teams and will have to cooperate to reach the final victory. In this game we considered a lot of factors like logistical, political, military, technologic development, and many others - but don't worry it's easy to play.
You just have to lead your divisions into battle in order to destroy the enemy and not to be destroyed. Your team leader will simulate all the rest for you.
More exciting: you won't have to fight scenarios with units you never saw before. Once a team leader has assigned you a division he usually lets you lead it until you will be destroyed or assigned to another task. You may also decide to start your career in a particular armed force, army, air force or navy if you want. If you think to be a good admiral but not a good general tell it to your team leader and he will assign you the command of a fleet and you'll go around the world with it enjoying yourself.

The war we simulate obviously is fully hypothetical, and many units exist just in order to let each team have about the same chance to achieve final victory.

We don't want to recreate historical battles right now. We will do so of course later, when we'll have more time. All in all there is a lot of other sites doing it. Fighting historical battles is challenging, of course, and saying that you did better than Rommel, Paulus or other WW2 generals may be exciting; but you can never really think you would have done better in their place because a game isn't the reality.
So we believe that simulating a hypothetical war with hypothetical units isn't much different if you have to solve the same problems. What's the difference if your tank is called Tiger or Leopard or something else?

We also comprehend that isn't easy to understand what we do and also therefore we ask you to take part in our forum discussions. We will explain to you what we forgot or what you are particularly interested in.

The Story

Germany

After victory in WW2 Hitler tries to extend his control all over Europe and partially succeeds because many pro-axis countries join the German empire. The regions Germany starts from are continental and northern Europe. The German army is still very strong and has most top units in each unit class. However, good relations with Italy have ended after the war, and now this country is neutral. German main target now is to conquer new colonies in other continents.

Italy

After 1943 and the crisis Italy miraculously saves its independence thanks to German help and the development of new powerful weapons that are very close to top units in almost every unit class. The kingdom of Italy has lost control of Italian East Africa which became independent but gained the control of all Mediterranean coasts. Germany has attempted to subjugate the kingdom of Italy, but thanks to its new weapons Italy has been able to prevent this. Now the Italian main target is to create an empire in Africa.

Russia

Despite Russia has been able to repel the axis invaders in 1942/43 it ends up in disorder because of heavy casualties suffered during the war. Many regions become independent. The Russian army isn't very strong, but is able to discourage every opponent from invading the country. The Russian main target is to re-establish the pre-war national borders previously menaced by the Germans in the west and by the Japanese in the east.

USA

The USA have been defeated in their attempt to help their European allies. Some disorder because of the defeat drove some western states to independence. The American army is very strong, even if it hasn't top unit in every class. In classes where the US got top unit it's very hard for an opponent to face them. Now America's main target is to re-take control over western states and conquer a colonial empire to regain resources lost in war.

UK

British situation is quite difficult at the moment. After having lost their motherland English sovereigns have gone to Canada in order to raise a new kingdom. From there they hope to conquer Great Britain after having solved the problems with western regions of Canada and having ensured the Americans they will pay their debts. The British army has been proven very hard by the war and has lost most of its strength but still represents a serious menace for almost every opponent. The Royal Navy wishes to revenge.

France

The situation of the French is desperate. Their army has been totally destroyed and now the only forces they have are the colonial forces which survived the war. The French have received much supplies from the USA and now, like the UK, they have to ensure they will pay their debts. However, even if the French army has virtually no top units it is still a serious menace for an invader.

Japan

The war has shown the limits of the Japans army. It isn't able to sustain a heavy fight on the ground and always must hide in forests and the jungle where, however, Japan's excellent infantries can hand out deadly strikes. Even if all in all not dangerous on the ground Japan is a serious menace at sea! No fleet can really match the Japanese one; so Japan's target is to conquer a colonial empire mainly composed of islands easily defendable by its strong fleet.

Spain

After problems due the fact Spain had refused to help axis powers in WW2 (after having received many new weapons from Germany) Spain has been invaded. Anyway, the Spanish army has been able to avoid destruction and has landed in Brazil. At the beginning accepted as guests Spanish commanders soon have conquered the country and now they are ready to return to Europe.

Romania

Current Romania has nothing in common with the original Romania. After the war Romanian borders were extended towards the east as recompense for the loyalty to the axis in the war. But due to the German attempt to conquer everything westerly regions were lost and only dominions consisting of former Russian dominions are left to the Romanian government.
